GBENGA & Aluko

Gbenga is the managing partner of Aluko & GBENGA, heading the firm's corporate and energy practice areas with significant experience in project finance, corporate law, energy and natural resources, telecommunications and aviation law.Aluko & GBENGA is one of the largest integrated law firms in Nigeria, providing a comprehensive range of specialist legal services in the areas of energy and natural resources, banking and corporate finance, project and infrastructure finance, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, telecommunications, intellectual property, litigation, arbitration, transport law (shipping and aviation), real estate and taxation. Gbenga is currently advising on the Brass LNG Project, a joint venture between NNPC, TOTAL, Conoco Philips and Agip, for the construction of a billion LNG Plant. He also advised on the US million Lekki Concession Infrastructure Project for the construction of toll roads and bridges in Lagos state - the first major PPP initiative in Nigeria; the US$1.25 billion financing of the Exxon Mobil Natural Gas Liquid II Project; the US$1.06 billion financing of the 4th and 5th trains of Nigeria LNG Limited's Plant Expansion Project; and the development, financing and implementation of the first IPP project in Nigeria.
Gbenga attended the University of Ife (LLB honours) and the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (LLM), graduating in 1979 and 1982 respectively. He is a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria (admitted June 1980) and an attorney-at-law of the Supreme Court of New York State (admitted November 1983). At various times in his career he has worked with White & Case in New York and Gulf Oil Company in Lagos and Houston.Gbenga is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the American Bar Association, the American Society of International Law and the International Bar Association (IBA).
