The 24-year-old singer was partying at The Rose Club in the English capital when she smashed a table by leaping on to it and furious bouncers only allowed her to stay after her friends intervened while Rihanna shouted “Don’t you know who I am?”.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “They were trying to eject her when her girlfriends starting screaming, ‘That’s Rihanna, you idiots!’
“Ri was telling the bouncers to get off and there was a scuffle. I don’t think they knew it was her.
“Finally, before they got to the exit doors, they realised their mistake and the club manager ordered free drinks for the table. And a new table, of course.”
Although she was allowed to stay on at the club, Rihanna left at 4am for another party and those close to her are now worried her partying is getting out of control.
One insider explained: “Her boozy behaviour’s raising eyebrows. Everyone likes a drink, but her more than most.”

Madonna top-earning celebrity

Madonna is the world’s top-earning celebrity according to Forbes, who claims that the pop star earned $125 million in the past year. The massive payday comes in part from her MDNA world tour, which grossed $305 million in ticket sales.

Coming in at number two on the list was Steven Spielberg.  Thanks in part to the success of his film “Lincoln,” the director took in a reported 100 million in the year ending June 2013.  Oprah Winfrey, who topped the list last year, dropped down to number 13, earning $77 million.
One Direction hit New York City on Monday to premiere their new concert movie, “This Is Us.”  The British-Irish boy band posed for photos and spoke to the media. Their film will be released in the United States on August 30th.
Finally, rumours have been swirling about a possible ‘N Sync reunion ever since the former boy band reunited at the MTV Video Music Awards.  Unfortunately for ‘N Sync fans, the rumours are merely that. Several of the members, including Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick, have come out and said that there are no plans to get back together.

Mrs Evelyn Oikhena, who confirmed her invitation to newsmen, said she was shocked when her sister-in-law in Germany called her to say that she read the incident on the internet.
She said she was shocked that her son could embark on such a life-threatening journey to where he had never been before.


 Speaking in Benin City, yesterday, Mrs Oikhena said her son was at home with his elder sister, Tonia, his two younger brothers and his grand mother while the mother was away to visit her elder sister who had put to bed.
She said: "So I was shocked when I came back Saturday morning, and they told me that Daniel has disappeared and when I asked my daughter she said she had a quarrel with him because the boy was watching movies late into the night.
"I had even gone to report the matter at Evbuotubu police station before my sister-in-law from Germany called me to say that the story of my son was in the internet.
"One of Daniel's younger brothers said he saw him remove his school books from his bag. So I asked my neighbhours whether any of them saw him and they told me that around 5 to 6 am, they heard sounds that somebody was opening the gate but never thought it was my son. He doesn't go out. What I know is that he is always watching movies in the house but he doesn't have friends.

IAAF World Championships

Athletics Federation of Nigeria president, Chief Solomon Ogba on Thursday in Moscow, received a medal of commendation from the IAAF president, Lamine Diack for his outstanding contributions to athletics in Nigeria.
One of Chief Ogba's major achievement was his tireless effort in transforming Blessing Okagbare from an average athlete in 2007 to a world class act. Okagbare is one of the Nigerian athletes expected to shine at the World Championships, which begins today in Moscow, Russia. But the big question is; can she live up to expectation and end Nigeria's 12-year wait for a medal at the world athletics showpiece event?
The last time Nigeria won a medal was in Seville, Spain in 1999, where France Obikwelu and Gloria Alozie won silver in the men 200m and women 100m hurdles events. Obikwelu and Alozie have since taken up Portuguese and Spanish nationalities respectively due to the unfortunate neglect of the sport by successive sports administrators, a condition that is unchanging and it has dragged athletics in Nigeria to the doldrums, but not for a lucky few like Okagbare whose career has been well oiled, there would be nothing for Nigeria's athletics enthusiasts to look forward to.

 

And beginning from this morning, Okagbare will be in the field digging for gold, starting with the long jump billed for this afternoon. She is in the same qualification pool with the very women who are standing between her and a medal in the event. They include Olympic 2012 champion, Britney Recce of the USA, with a season best of 7.25m and home girl, Olga Kucherenko with a season's best of 7. 00m and a personal best of 7.13m. Okagbare, in July broke the seven meter barrier and from the look of things, she must have to do more than the wind added 7.14m she did recently to stand a decent chance of winning a medal in the event, it is crowded.
On Sunday, she will run in the heats of the women's 100m and then in the afternoon session she will do battle in the final of the women long jump hopefully. Once the dust settles on the long jump on Sunday, Okagbare will focus on the women's 100m and it promises to be another explosive encounter and for Nigerians who are practically living on a prayer, it is time to say a word or two to the mighty Man in heaven to give Okagbare some measure of luck and stability, because this is what it will boil down to in the women's 100m where all the top contenders, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, Camelita Jeter, Kelly-Ann Baptise, and Gardner English appear to have equal chances to the medals at stake. However, Okagbare and Fraser Pryce are the women all eyes are on.

Nigeria: Okagbare Won't Falter in Moscow

Sunday Uti, one of the Athletic coaches who flew out with some home-based athletes to Moscow yesterday for the Championship that holds from August 10 to August 18 left an upbeat message to Nigerians that they would come back with medals.
There have been concerns from several quarters that Blessing Okagabare's sparkling form could nose-dive as it did during the London Olympics where she faltered.
But Uti dismissed such fears yesterday when he said that Nigerians should look on the brighter side of life.
"The Olympics is gone and Blessing has been in blistering form. She has put that performance at the Olympics behind and has posted better times at the just concluded Diamond League where she set a new African 100m record of 10.79secs.
We are, without question, in a better position going into the World Championships. We're encouraged by Okagabare's form which no doubt will rub off on the team. We are prepared and focused".
Dismissing the fears that Okagabare could succumb to pressure or buckle on the weight of expectation from millions of Nigerians, Uti said that Blessing was no longer a little girl that could be frightened by spectators. "She is tested and trusted and has been performing before huge crowds.
She is a world star athlete. Nigerians should pray for her. There is nothing to be afraid of. Team Nigeria will strike gold in Moscow", Uti optimised.

A typical Nigeria celebrity is seen as a wealthy personality. Going on tour around the world, shooting videos and making people know they are a force to be reckoned with.
Most of the shows they perform in is outside the country and it aids them with lots of money for stage appearance, multinational endorsement and more fan base. But of late, the tide has continued to turn inasmuch as majority seek fund from the public before they could even eat. The question entertainment enthusiasts are asking is, what have they been doing with the millions they earn?





The ordeal of African Queen Music producer, OJB Jezreel with kidney failure has revealed the lifestyle of our music celebrities. He struggled to get the required funds for his kidney transplant and had to resort to begging Nigerians to save his life and donate money for his operation. This development casts a notion of wasteful spending on our celebrities who made money when the going was good.
A lot of our contemporary artistes and music producers have smiled to the bank unlike the veteran singers of yesteryears who laboured more producing quality music and yet did not make as much as the contemporary artistes. Catching on the global hip hop trend, many of our artistes have hit it off and smiled to the banks. The Nigerian musician has laboured and tried to make himself to be reckoned with. Today, while many have attained celebrity status via the industry and become brand ambassadors of different products and organisations, others have gradually faded out as if they never existed.

First up we have radio personality, Toke Makinwa! With her dark long locks, flawless makeup and demure style she reminds me of a life size Barbie doll. Or rather the more exotic version of Barbie. Every time she steps out on the red carpet or snaps a random photo on Instagram you can tell she’s all about being a LADY. Even when she does something edgy with her look it still exudes femininity.

Please believe I had to add the one and only Alex Ekubo. Take a look at that photo first and tell me his style is not on point. Apart from being a very handsome man, he knows how to wear a suit and tie. You can tell he likes to look sharp and clean. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look undone. He is always put together… and although he’s dressed in all black in the photo above, he knows how to incorporate bold colors into his wardrobe which can never hurt.

Another no-brainer was the incomparable Genevieve Nnaji. It seems like the older she gets the finer she gets and along with her looks her style becomes more and more classic. She can wear the hell out of a dress and make you want to buy it right off the rack and if possible wear it off her back. There’s something sexy yet subtle about the way she dresses. It doesn’t overpower you but creeps up on you but in a good way.

Next up we have Mr Uti Nwachukwu! The only man that can rock this style of dreads! When I first saw Uti at the NEAwards last September with his plaid suit, I was like… wahala deeeey! Like who else could pull that kind of suit of, if not him? All I know is that he follows his own trends not what fashion dictates! Ultimately that is why is he on this list!

Now Rita Dominic, gets a standing ovation from me. She has really grown into her own woman style wise! I’ve been noticing all these vintage inspired outfits and dresses she’s been rocking to events and on red carpets. Recently she wore a huge hat, baby blue blazer, white collared shirt and trousers to Tuface’s wedding and I absolutely loved it. She’s been trying new things when it comes to her coordinating a look and I must say that I am impressed. Levels have most certainly changed honey!

When it comes to colors, Ebuka, knows how to mix and match them! Adding color to a man’s wardrobe can be tricky for most but I guess he falls under another category. I personally think the color blue looks great on him! Gentleman: take note… no offense.

Kate Henshaw is in same class as Genevieve when it comes to the kinds of clothing they would go for but Kate’s athelic build just allows any dress to look great on her and fit like a glove. I also love that she sports her natural hair at times …when you have to let your hair just breathe y’know!

Aside from the exposed D&G briefs and Jesus piece in this photos… oh and the bare chest, D’Banj does have a style all his own. Yes men were wearing suits in Naija before he came around but in a sea of artists rocking the latest kicks,  T-Shirts, tailored jeans, D’Banj made it sexy and appealing to wear suits as an entertainer in Naija.

Tiwa is a fashionista through and though. She not only wears dresses and outfits that look great on her. She adds accessories to the mix and in a bold way! Check out the gold cuffs on her wrist and gold plated necklace she’s wearing in the photo above. These are the little additions that can take an outfit from nice to a show stopper and Tiwa does that perfectly.

Burna Boy! Burna Boy! Burna Boy! This guy’s style just makes me think of Puffy aka P. Diddy back in the days when he was rolling with Biggie sans the sleeveless shirts and tattoos of course. Maybe its the shades, I don’t know but I get that vibe from him. I love the way he dressing down and how he dresses it up, he never seems to have a care as to what others around may say or think. Some may call that cockiness, I call it confidence. That’s something you need to have if you’re going to walking around with leopard printed sleeveless top and dark shades.

Nigeria: Christian girls at risk of abduction

Christian girls in northern Nigeria are increasingly at risk of abduction by Muslims who are then forcing them to renounce their faith. 
Professor Daniel Babayi, of the Northern Christian Association of Nigeria, told Barnabas Fund that Christian girls below the age of 18 were being targeted.
The girls are held in the homes of Muslim leaders but when Christians report this to the police, they say there is nothing they can do.
"The police have become very helpless.  In some instances, they are part of the conspiracy," said Professor Babayi. 
Last year, militant Islamic group Boko Haram threatened to kidnap Christian women as part of "new efforts to strike fear into the Christians of the power of Islam", Barnabas reports.
Boko Haram has stated its intention to eradicate Christians from northern Nigeria and implement a strict interpretation of Sharia law across the region. 
The group has repeatedly attacked Christian communities and churches, most recently killing 40 at a boarding school in Yobe state on 6 July.  A dormitory was set alight in the attack and those fleeing gunned down. 
Last month, an attack on a secondary school in Yobe and another school in Borno left 16 students dead.  
Barnabas Fund added that Boko Haram was recruiting unschooled and unemployed children, sometimes by force.

Nigeria forces disperse rival youth factions in oil city

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria (Reuters) - Nigerian security forces fired tear gas on Wednesday to prevent hundreds of youths loyal to President Goodluck Jonathan and to his bitter rival, Rivers state governor Rotimi Amaechi, clashing in the main oil hub of Port Harcourt.
A Reuters witness saw around 2,000 youths from the two factions arrive in some 30 commercial buses at the Rivers state parliament in Port Harcourt, the main hub of Africa's biggest energy industry in the swampy Niger Delta and historically a flashpoint for political violence.
Police struggled to keep them apart until a Joint Task Force composed of both military and police stepped in, firing tear gas canisters and chasing away the crowds. One man was arrested.
Last month, police banned demonstrations in the hub of Nigeria's two million barrel a day industry to prevent clashes.
"The ban on rallies and protests is still on. Anyone caught holding protests will be dealt with," Rivers state police spokeswoman Angela Agabe said.
Amaechi and Jonathan have been embroiled in a spat in the past few months which worsened when Amaechi was elected head of the National Governors' Forum grouping Nigeria's 36 states.
Jonathan, also from the oil-producing Niger Delta, and his backers have refused to recognize Amaechi because of his open opposition to the president seeking another term in an election scheduled for 2015. Jonathan has not officially declared he will run but his supporters say he will.
Many of Nigeria's governors, and quite a few lawmakers, are in revolt against Jonathan over his expected plan to run, including many within his own People's Democratic Party (PDP).
Security officials and oil workers fear Port Harcourt -- once a fiefdom of militants, gangsters and kidnappers targeting the oil industry - will become a key battleground in this power struggle, as it has in the past.
Representatives of Jonathan and Amaechi were not immediately available for comment on Wednesday.
Violence between specially bused-in youths, sometimes armed, has been a feature of Nigerian electoral cycles since its return to democracy in 1999, but the spat over Jonathan's future plans risks triggering violence way ahead of time, analysts say.

Gbenga Daniel

Daniel was born on the 6th April, 1956. He attended the Baptist Boys High School, Abeokuta from 1969 to 1973, followed by studies at the Polytechnic, Ibadan, and the School of Engineering of the University of Lagos. His decision to study engineering was influenced by the brilliant engineer and teacher Ayodele Awojobi. Daniel spent much time with Awojobi, and was a winner on his television quiz show "Mastermind".Daniel became a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. He obtained a job with Schrouder (W.A.) Limited,Lagos, rising to Deputy Managing Director. In 1990 he founded Kresta Laurel, an engineering firm specializing in elevators, overhead travelling cranes and hoists.

 
Daniel was elected governor of Ogun State in April 2003, running on the PDP platform. He acquired the chiefly title Otunba of the Egba clan of the state during the course of his first term.[citation needed] He was reelected in April 2007. His April 2007 election was disputed by rival candidate Ibikunle Amosun of the All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP), but in August 2009 the Ogun State Election Petitions Tribunal dismissed the petition.In August 2006, the website Elundu Reports published what it claimed to be evidence that Daniel had obtained two houses in London after being sworn in as Governor.Daniel's achievements while in office include building roads, recreational centres and stadiums in the three senatorial districts of the state, and setting up a University of Education.[6] The Gateway International Stadium was a site of the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup which was held in Nigeria.In June 2009 he drew criticism for his proposal to float a N60bn bond for commercial developmental projects in the state, which was said to be contrary to his stated principles about the Public - Private Partnership (PPP).In December 2008, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, wrote a letter to Inspector-General of Police, Mike Okiro saying that Gbenga Daniel was after her life and calling for police action.In February 2009, Daniel authorized reduction of fees at the State-owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic to N7,000. This followed negotiations with the National Association of Nigeria Students after parents and students had protested recent increases to fees.In July 2009, a scandal blew up with the publication in the Nigerian Compass of a photograph that allegedly showed Wale Alausa, a member of the state House of Assembly, taking a blood oath which the paper said was to ensure secrecy and unity of purpose in a bid to impeach Daniel. The Nigerian Compass is owned by Gbenga Daniel. Alausa said the pictures were real, but the blood oath was an oath of allegiance to Daniel, which he had taken at the governor's insistence.
